The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team providing technical and engineering services to UAS and other Unmanned Systems around the country. Will support electronic system, component installation, integration, troubleshooting, and repair. Will write, review, and update technical documentation. Will be required to work independently and as part of a small team.
This position is located in scenic Wallops Island, VA which is located just a few miles from majestic Chincoteague Island.
Required Skills and Education:
High school diploma
At least 4 years of experience in electronic systems, including installing electronic systems equipment and designing, preparing and modifying engineering documents and drawings.
At least 1 years of experience with Unmanned / UAV Systems
Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance required for work on the NASA Wallops Flight Facility
Experience reviewing, writing, and updating technical documentation.
Experience with test plans, procedures, schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and wire lists.
Work on various types of electronic equipment and by performing one or a combination of
the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, constructing, and testing.
Work closely with engineers building up Unmanned Systems, including construction,
circuit card assembly, and testing. Tasks will involve acceptance and qualification testing of all types of components.
Work requires practical application of technical knowledge of electronic principles, ability to determine malfunctions, and skill to put equipment in required operating condition. Ability to operate and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
Direct and oversee packing and unpacking of equipment for field operations.
Ability to train others on the use and maintenance of Unmanned Systems.
Ability to provide electronic, telephonic, and on-site support on the operation and maintenance of Unmanned Systems in field operations
Ability to attain a Part 107 UAS (Drone) Pilot certification
Experience using Microsoft Office software.
Preferred Skills and Education:
Associate degree in Electronics or Engineering Technology.
Ability to develop training curriculum and materials for Unmanned Systems.
Familiarity with the operation of Unix and/or Linux software.
Flexibility to learn and utilize other systems supported by this competency.
