Job description: 

We are seeking a dynamic Software Engineer dedicated to enhancing the Ada programming language's open-source software development ecosystem and overall advocate for the adoption of AdaCore technologies. This unique position within the Technical Marketing team involves contributing to the Ada package manager, improving and expanding the suite of packages and toolchains it supports, and building GNU toolchains for embedded targets and various host operating systems. The role offers an exciting opportunity to impact the Ada community positively, ensuring robust, innovative tools and resources are available for developers. We are looking for candidates who are not only technically skilled but also possess a strong desire to learn, innovate, and contribute to the open-source community. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on the maintenance of tools provided by the Ada package manager, ensuring a wide range of tools is available for the Ada community. In particular, build GNU toolchains for new embedded targets and host OS, maintaining existing ones to support the evolving needs of Ada developers.

  • Engage with the open-source community to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and gather feedback to guide development efforts.

  • Develop various software projects and demos showcasing AdaCore products and programming languages

  • Produce technical marketing content across various formats and for different audiences (blog posts, news articles, case studies, web pages, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • You have strong foundational skills in software engineering, with experience in or willingness to learn Ada programming and GNU toolchain development.

  • You demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and the open-source community.

  • You have excellent problem-solving abilities and creativity in tackling complex technical challenges.

  • You have a genuine passion for open-source software development and an eagerness to contribute to and grow with the Ada ecosystem.

  • You can set your own priorities and are able to learn by yourself in complex environments

  • You are fluent in written and spoken english

The following are not mandatory but are considered a plus: 

  • Experience and/or interest in embedded programming

  • Experience and/or interest in cybersecurity

  • A good understanding of Ada/SPARK, C/C++, Rust, or other system programming languages

Location: Bristol or Paris (+ work from home policy)
