POSITION OVERVIEW:
The primary function of this role is to manage the site supplier quality program, including the receiving inspection process, as well as drive quality and improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with customer and MPG requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing activities and staff for the Receiving Inspection process.
- Responsible for the determination of inspection methods to ensure conformance.
- Responsible for creating and managing inspection plans and determining sampling and inspection levels.
- Responsible for developing and managing inspection tools, determining new tools, best practices, and/or fixtures for inspection.
- Responsible for facilitating and chairing the MRB process for incoming material.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance of suppliers to industry and/or technical specifications, as applicable.
- Responsible for the approval and disqualification (when necessary) of suppliers and maintenance of the approved supplier list requirements.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining supplier audit records.
- Responsible for investigating problems found in production and/or receiving inspection when related to supplied material, dispositioning material, communicating with the suppliers, communicating with internal stakeholders, and resolving issues.
- Responsible for communicating quality issues or concerns with suppliers and assisting with resolution.
- Responsible issuing and managing the supplier corrective action process.
- Responsible for working with the other MPG sites as it relates to supplied or pass through material.
- Responsible for facilitating the First Article Inspection process on supplied material.
- Responsible for reporting on supplier performance with supply chain team and driving for action when not meeting targets.
- Assist suppliers with understanding quality requirements to ensure receipt of a quality product.
- Work cooperatively with supply chain on improvements with sourcing partners and the process.
QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident – Green Card Holder
- Aviation, Space, or Defense industry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Five years’ technical experience with electronics or electro-mechanical.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to effectively communicate with Buyers and Engineering on supplier technical/quality issues.
- Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
- Must be able to diplomatically work with other departments and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have knowledge of Quality System standards; AS9100, ISO9001, etc.
- Working knowledge of relevant IPC standard, IPC-600, 620, etc. a plus.
- SPC and Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing knowledge a plus.
